Walk from the corner of Scottsdale Road and Camelback south to Third Avenue, then east along Stetson Drive, and you cross more new second-floor patios than existed in this stretch a year ago. Wolf by Vanderpump has been open on the seventh floor of Caesars Republic Scottsdale since December. Cielito took the roof of the new AC Hotel Scottsdale Old Town in February. Above All Else is landing on the second floor of the former STK at 7134 E. Stetson Drive. Drake's Hollywood is putting a valet-only entrance on Scottsdale Road at First Street. Four of the season's most-discussed rooms are on second floors or higher, and the walk between the two furthest apart is under fifteen minutes.

The point of this post is not that Old Town has new restaurants. The point is that the new ones are close enough to each other that, for the first time in a stretch of years, a summer night here rewards the resident who plans an evening on foot over the resident who plans one in a car.

What The Corridor Actually Is

Local coverage of the summer 2026 openings has been describing the same rectangle: Scottsdale Road on the west, Camelback on the north, Stetson Drive on the south, Third Avenue on the east. Six new concepts are landing inside it. The Scottsdale Waterfront sits two blocks off the east edge and absorbs a seventh, BOA Steakhouse, set to open in the first half of 2026 with Executive Chef Brendan Collins running the kitchen and a Four Sixes Ranch partnership anchoring an 18-ounce dry-aged ribeye on the menu.

What August Actually Looks Like On The Calendar

The most useful thing happening this month is not a new opening. It is Arizona Chef's Week, running July 31 through August 9, with prix-fixe menus at Old Town's independently owned restaurants. The lineup is the point. Gio Osso of Virtù Honest Craft and Pizzeria Virtù. Bernie Kantak of Citizen Public House and Beginner's Luck. Erika Gonzalez of Pinyon Coastal Mediterranean. These are the rooms that predate the new corridor and, arguably, are what made the corridor a bet worth making for national operators in the first place.

Two things stacked on top of Chef's Week are worth knowing about:

• Bar Brawl at Hotel Valley Ho runs Sundays from July 26 through August 23, now in its eighth year. The competitors on record include Fernando Bambaren of Virtù Honest Craft, Alexis Patino of Toca Madera, and Juan Garcia of The Ends. Live music, bites, and a room full of people who spend the rest of the week making cocktails for a living.
• Night Trip Festival Arizona hits WestWorld of Scottsdale on August 29 and 30 with a deep house, tech house, and techno lineup running from evening into the early morning. That is a car trip, not a walk, but it closes the month.

If the thesis of the post is that Old Town has compressed into a walkable rooftop corridor, Chef's Week is the argument's supporting evidence: the ground-floor institutions are hosting the tasting menus, and the rooftops are open for the after-dinner move.

The National Concepts Choosing Old Town As Flagship, Not Test Market

The Wolf by Vanderpump opening drew national coverage in December. That was not a coincidence of PR timing. It confirmed something that the Camelback corridor openings also point to. Scottsdale is no longer the market where national concepts test a cautious second location. It is where they bring the flagship.

Consider the shape of the incoming class:

• Din Tai Fung is opening at Scottsdale Fashion Square, 7014 E. Camelback Road, at 10,000 square feet with 340 seats and its signature dumpling expo kitchen. This is the first Arizona location of a globally recognized Taiwanese dumpling house.
• BOA Steakhouse at the Waterfront is a homecoming for Innovative Dining Group, which operated Sushi Roku at the W Scottsdale for fifteen years. Chef Brendan Collins came out of Michelin-starred kitchens in London and a run of acclaimed Los Angeles restaurants. The Four Sixes Ranch partnership makes Scottsdale the first BOA to run that program.
• Drake's Hollywood is moving into the former Buca di Beppo at 3828 N. Scottsdale Road, an 8,000-square-foot room with red leather booths and Art Deco chandeliers. It will be the fourth U.S. location, joining Dallas, Houston, and West Hollywood, with a valet-only entrance that tells you what kind of night the room is designed for.
• DEPWAH is a French-Vietnamese concept with a rooftop lounge and espresso bar focused on Vietnamese coffee and matcha.
• Above All Else, from Above All Hospitality, is a modern American room built around rooftop views on the second floor of the former STK space.
• 40 LOVE is already open in Old Town, a restaurant lounge from co-founders Sean Mulholland and Avery Johnson Jr., developed in partnership with Niall Horan and DeAndre Hopkins.

The list matters less than the pattern. Every operator on it either brought its flagship program to Scottsdale or is choosing Old Town over the two or three markets it could have picked instead.

Watch What Closes

The former STK space became Above All Else. The former Buca di Beppo is becoming Drake's Hollywood. Francine, a French restaurant at Scottsdale Fashion Square, abruptly closed its doors in May with no explanation. Frank & Lupe's, the New Mexican restaurant that closed in 2025, resurfaced this spring at The Shops Gainey Village, 8787 N. Scottsdale Road, with a new owner continuing to use the Bernal family's recipes. La Miel de Agave opened a third outlet at Hilton Village, 6107 N. Scottsdale Road.

The summer's inventory turn is happening almost entirely inside existing shells. That is worth noting the next time a longtime tenant in Old Town goes quiet on a lease. The corridor is not sprawling outward. It is deepening in place.

A Practical Suggestion For August

If you already live in Old Town, three moves for the next four weeks:

1. Book one Chef's Week seat before August 9 at a room you have not visited in the last twelve months. Pinyon, Virtù Honest Craft, and Citizen Public House are all inside the walking rectangle.
2. Take one Sunday for Bar Brawl at Hotel Valley Ho between now and August 23. The room is a working preview of which bartenders will still be at which addresses in a year.
3. Skip Drake's on the first two weekends after it opens. A valet-only entrance during a national-brand debut is the definition of a room to visit on a Wednesday in month two.

The reason the walking geometry matters is that it changes what a "night out" is. A dinner at Pinyon, a drink on the roof at Cielito, a nightcap at 40 LOVE, and a walk home is a sequence that did not exist in this configuration a year ago. Old Town has been organized around single-destination reservations for a long time. The summer of 2026 is the first summer where that is no longer the default.
